That’s great! I like it.
good idea!
Excellent idea John, with so many people members of the local bike club, it would offer some security for those who might like to bring a bike into town during the summer, I know in the past there have been many bikes stolen in a given day.
Hi, your thinking is right in line with what Vilma Watters is working on. She is developing a ‘Re-Use’ center in L’Amable at the fire hall on Detlor Road. People will be able to take their excess or unused building items: doors, tubs, windows, etc., to the depot and other people could purchase them. This is a great Green initiative.
Thanks for the link, John. Our BIA had done something similar at Christmas time for several years with the BBIA bucks. On a slightly different vein, facade improvement loans are available from CFDC at 0% interest for up to 10 years, I believe. Tim and Cathy Fulford took advantage of this when they renovated their new store front(s).
How about a functioning Greyhound location where people who grew up in Bancroft can actually come home to visit their families??? So far, all that’s been occurring is the town pissing Greyhound off so much that they could care less to service the area…how sad! Is Bancroft really so well off that they’re willing to not just keep family from coming home but, to throw away tourists and the $$ they bring to the tiny community???
I think you’ll find that Greyhound was the one that ignored the original agreement with the town, to have one bus and a 5 minute stop, they moved right in with 2 buses and a half-hour rest stop, with a total disregard for the original deal made on a trial basis with the town. Due to the safety problems created by Greyhound, the town had no choice but to take the hard line. Many offers were presented, many requests were presented, Greyhound ignored all. These are some of the FACTS.
Perhaps in a new museum – would like to see a 3-D model of the area set up on a large flat table showing geographic contours with mineral deposits indicated, lakes, towns, villages, interesting features highlighted, etc. A good project for students and a tourist draw. Could be done in sections starting with the Bancroft area and working out. Tourists could view this 3-D model as a starting point for area exploration. Each year sections could be added radiating from the centre. Most people like viewing maps, this would be so much better. Could be done with modeling clay and paint. Artists could help.
Would like to see bicycle storage racks scattered around town. Places for people to lock their bikes. This might encourage more locals to forego their cars and visitors transporting bikes (usually going on camping trips) to also stop and use their bikes. Look at other ways to make the town more bicycle friendly – trails, signage and charging stations for electric bikes.

Maybe a version of this for Bancroft although not sure how Lamar, Colorado finances it. Maybe worth evaluating to encourage spending within the community.
A Greyhound Bus Stop should be part of the Redevelopment Plan.
I do suspect this is presently on the list of items being considered.
